Tim Murray, a former member of the Illinois Wesleyan University football staff, was named Olympia's defensive coordinator in February of 2018.
Murray arrives at Olympia after serving as linebacker coach at Bloomington High School for the past year. While at BHS, Murray worked with Coach Lyons on defensive game planning and served as the leading defensive coaching presence on the field during games. Prior to coaching at BHS, Murray served as the defensive line coach at University High School in Normal. At UHigh, Murray designed and called zone pressures and participated heavily in defensive game planning. In his first year at UHigh, the Pioneers allowed less than 14 points per game in conference.
Murray arrived at UHigh after serving as the offensive line coach at his alma mater, Illinois Wesleyan University, for three years. While coaching for the Titans, Murray gained extensive knowledge of zone and power blocking schemes.
As a player, Murray was an all-conference performer and captain for both Illinois Wesleyan University and Maine South High School.
Tim currently works as an accountant for State Farm and resides in Bloomington with his wife, Heidi, and his daughters Anna (3) and Molly (1).
